A message from Shane Henderson of Ingraham High School:
Greetings from Ingraham High School! The Ram Band is inviting 8th grade students to come and spend a night at a basketball game with us. During this time, they can sit-in with the Ingraham Pep Band and cheer on the Rams! This is an opportunity for students to meet and talk with current members of the band.
On Friday, February 3 students should meet in the Ingraham band room at 5:45 with their flipbook, lyre and instrument, The game begins at 6:30 and should finish up by 10:00. Students who wish to attend should email me or talk to their Middle School band director.
Parents are welcome to stay for the game, I will be there to answer questions about our program. If your student would like to participate simply send me an email (email@example.com) with your students name, instrument and school, and I will send the music to their directors.
I look forward to meeting everyone!
As the popularity of our music program increases, so does the demand for quality instruments. In order to build out the instrument collection for the music program, we’re looking for used instruments in good condition. If yours are just gathering dust in the attic, consider donating them to FOJAM.
Here’s what’s in it for you: better Feng Shui in your home, good Karma, and a possible tax write-off for 2016 (we’ll provide a letter acknowledging your donation, the rest is up to you).
What We Need
Instruments in good condition, including:
- French Horns
What We Can’t Take
Unfortunately, we don’t have budget to repair non-working instruments, so those are better donated elsewhere.
How to Make a Donation
Friends of Jane Addams Music (FOJAM) is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the music program at Jane Addams Middle School.
Are you bound for Roosevelt High School in the next few years? Or do you just like to hear great music from students in Seattle?
The Roosevelt Jazz Band will perform Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s “Jazz Nutcracker” at the Roosevelt Performing Arts Theatre on December 3 at 7:30 pm and December 4 at 2:00 pm.
Some JAMS alumni play with this band, so you might see some familiar faces.
