Roosevelt Jazz Band “Jazz Nutcracker”

Are you bound for Roosevelt High School in the next few years? Or do you just like to hear great music from students in Seattle? Deb Schaaf is a MusicEd Idol

Deb Schaaf was recently honored as one of twenty MusicEd Idol awardees from the Give a Note Foundation & 21st Century Fox. These organizations work together to recognize the contributions of music educators around the country and they have awarded Deb a $1000 grant for Jane Addams Middle School’s music education program. Music-a-thon 2016 final results

Dear FOJAM Music Families, A big “well done” goes out to the students, family, friends and community who supported the Music-a-thon! The Music-a-thon exceeded its goal and raised over $24,000 for Jane Addams band, orchestra, jazz and choral programs. The top three participating classes – Chamber Orchestra, Senior Orchestra and Senior Jazz – all won a class pizza party for their efforts. Senior Jazz Band Invited to Monterey Jazz Festival

Jane Addams Middle School Senior Jazz Band auditioned for and was accepted to attend Next Generation Jazz Festival this April in Monterey, California. This would be exciting news under any circumstances, but if you know the context it is even more impressive. Only six middle schools are selected throughout the United States.
