Deb Schaaf was recently honored as one of twenty MusicEd Idol awardees from the Give a Note Foundation & 21st Century Fox. These organizations work together to recognize the contributions of music educators around the country and they have awarded Deb a $1000 grant for Jane Addams Middle School’s music education program. Jane Addams Middle School Senior Jazz Band auditioned for and was accepted to attend Next Generation Jazz Festival this April in Monterey, California. This would be exciting news under any circumstances, but if you know the context it is even more impressive. Only six middle schools are selected throughout the United States.
